Remnant- Nightmare Armor Set

Unofficial Fan concept art for the video game "Remnant from the Ashes" by Gunfire Games. This is an armor set based off of the final boss of the game "Nightmare". I really wanted to make a stand out armor the player would earn for beating the final boss that makes you as the player feel as intimidating, mysterious and powerful as the actual boss himself. After several iterations I think I have a look I would be happy with seeing and equipping on my own character in game.

This was a ton of fun to think critically about making an armor set passive that was conditional in a way that the player could manipulate the condition to maximize the potential of the passive bonus. I talked with my friends whom I play the game with and we must have work shopped 15+ ideas before settling on this one. All bonuses from armor sets are conditional allowing for unique and diverse play styles and builds. This one has the condition of getting kills. I wanted to encourage the player to not take the fastest and easiest route to the world boss and get it over with but instead take every fight and be rewarded over time for your time and risk. Where as most armor set passives are immediate this one is built slowly over time and for that reason is way more potent making you an absolute unit if you get to the full measure of its potential. However, there is still plenty of wiggle room for play style here not limiting you as much on items but instead gives you an opportunity to steer your stats by which enemies you want to take the time to seek out. My friends and I really had a blast talking this all out while we played the game together. A very memorable project.
